When used in base paper production, CMC acts as a sizing agent, imparting enhanced smoothness, compactness, wax retention and ink resistance to paper. In addition, CMC leverages its excellent water retention performance to increase the paper's physical strength and reduce its surface porosity.
During paper coating, Liyuan CMC is used to adjust the flow conditions and viscosity of coating colors. Using such well-conditioned coating colors optimizes the internal fiber bonding of paper and greatly reduces uneven coating, sagging and color spots. The final paper product delivers homogeneous quality, strong folding endurance and a cleaner surface appearance.
